Polo Neckwarmer Pattern
Stay Cozy This Winter

Polo neckwarmer pattern

This polo neckwarmer pattern may look difficult to make, but it really is so easy. Worked in rows from chin to chest it fans out to sit beautifully on the shoulders.

I worked this one in TLC Amore and it's so soft. I used a 4.5mm hook, but use a hook size which gives you the following gauge.

Gauge : 16st X 14 rows = 4 inches over single crochet in back loop only. It works out about 15 inches around the neck. Comfy but not tight. Add more rows to fit a larger neck

The whole polo neckwarmer pattern is worked in the backs of the loops only, after the initial starting row.

Here are the abbreviations you'll need...

And - here comes the polo neckwarmer pattern...

  1. Ch 33, sc in 2nd ch from hook and ea ch to end (32sts), turn.
  2. Ch1, sc in blo of first 12 sts, hdc in blo of next 6 sts, dc in blo of next 6 sts, tr in blo of remaining 8sts, turn.
  3. Ch1, sc in blo of each st to end.
  4. Repeat rows 2 & 3 for a total of 50 rows start to finish. Work a sc seam, break yarn, finish off & weave in ends.

See - I told you it was easy! Bet you'll be making more than one. I think I'll be making them up in several colors as we're getting some really cold temperatures right now.

Isn't this polo neckwarmer pattern a great idea for a quick gift? The pattern came to me as I was wearing a 'v' neck fleece one day and was feeling decidedly draughty about the neck. Funny how things work out.

If you want to dress it up a little choose a crochet edging or work tassels or a fringe around the edge. This pattern also works as a mini capelet for a young child of about 4-6 years old. It will just drape over the shoulders to about a cap sleeve length.

You can also easily extend it to make a childs shrug or capelet by simply adding more stitches to the starting chain, then working any extra stitches as treble crochets.

I do hope you enjoy working up this fun polo neckwarmer pattern. Stay warm!
